Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how localorganicrankings.com (the “Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you visit or interact with the Site, and explains your rights under UK data protection law. We are committed to processing personal data lawfully, fairly, and transparently. This Policy should be read together with our Cookie Policy and Terms of Service. Capitalised terms used but not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.
Who is responsible for your data
For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we act as the data controller in respect of personal data processed through the Site. If you have questions about this Policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at info@localorganicrankings.com. We will respond within reasonable timeframes and in accordance with applicable law.
Personal data we may collect
We do not require you to register an account to browse most of the Site. Depending on how you use the Site and whether you contact us, we may process the following categories of information:
- Technical and device data: such as browser type and version, operating system, device type, language settings, time zone, and approximate location derived at a coarse level from IP address.
- Usage data: such as pages viewed, approximate scroll or interaction signals where measured, referring URL or campaign parameters in links, timestamps, and diagnostic logs needed for security or troubleshooting.
- Communications data: if you email us, we process your address, message content, and metadata needed to respond.
- Cookie and similar identifiers: as described in our Cookie Policy, including session or preference identifiers where deployed.
We do not intentionally collect special category data (such as health data) through the Site. Please do not send us sensitive information unless we explicitly request it for a defined purpose.
How we collect personal data
We collect data directly when you interact with the Site (for example by loading pages or using the cookie banner). We also collect data automatically through server logs, cookies, pixels, or similar technologies where enabled. If we integrate third-party analytics or advertising measurement tools in future, we will describe them here and, where required, obtain consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are used.
Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)
We process personal data only where we have a valid legal basis, including:
- Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, and improve the Site; to understand aggregated audience behaviour; to prevent fraud and abuse; to defend legal claims; and to manage affiliate tracking in line with industry practice, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: where required for non-essential cookies or direct marketing communications, where we choose to rely on consent.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law or regulatory requests.
- Contract: where processing is necessary to perform a contract with you (for example responding to a support request that forms a service relationship).
How we use personal data
We use personal data for purposes including: delivering and maintaining the Site; measuring traffic and content performance in aggregate; debugging errors and monitoring security; enforcing our Terms; communicating with you when you contact us; complying with legal duties; and, where applicable, attributing outbound clicks to commercial partners under affiliate arrangements. We do not sell your personal data in the conventional sense of selling lists of individuals to unrelated data brokers.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies as explained in our Cookie Policy. Essential cookies may be strictly necessary for basic Site functions such as remembering cookie choices or age-gate state where implemented. Where we deploy optional analytics or marketing cookies, we will provide appropriate controls and, where required, seek your consent before activation.
Affiliate and operator relationships
When you follow links to third-party gambling operators or networks, those parties become independent controllers of any personal data they collect. They may process registration details, payment data, verification documents, gambling transaction history, and marketing preferences under their own privacy notices. We encourage you to read each operator’s privacy policy before creating an account. We are not responsible for third-party processing except as described where we jointly determine purposes and means (which is uncommon for a simple outbound link).
Sharing and disclosure
We may share personal data with service providers who assist us with hosting, content delivery, email delivery, security monitoring, or analytics, subject to appropriate contracts and confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Site. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, personal data may be transferred as a business asset, subject to safeguards and notice where required.
International transfers
Our hosting or service providers may process data in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK and not subject to an adequacy decision, we implement appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, standard contractual clauses, or other lawful transfer tools.
Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, including satisfying legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Server logs and security records may be kept for limited periods consistent with operational needs. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where feasible.
Security
We implement technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, such as access controls, encryption in transit where standard for web traffic, and vendor diligence. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you use the Site at your own risk and should protect your devices and credentials.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to: request access to your personal data; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure in certain circumstances; request restriction of processing; object to processing based on legitimate interests; withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and request portability for data you provided processed by automated means under contract or consent. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern.
Automated decision-making
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects solely based on profiling in relation to Site visitors in the sense described in UK GDPR Article 22.
Children
The Site is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. We will post the revised version on the Site and adjust the “Last updated” date. Where changes are material and we rely on consent, we may seek fresh consent where appropriate.
